Sound and camera problems are overwhelmingly permission or occupancy issues, occasionally a driver fault. Check permissions → occupancy → drivers.
Permissions
On macOS allow microphone and camera in Privacy & Security; on Windows allow app access to microphone and camera in privacy settings.
- Windows: allow camera and microphone in privacy settings
- macOS: grant access in Privacy & Security
- Confirm audio transmission is on in the session
- Corporate policy may disable them
Device occupancy
Video conferencing and streaming apps take exclusive control of cameras; an exclusively held audio device also fails to capture. Close such apps and retry.
- Close conferencing and streaming apps
- End background processes holding the camera
- Check the default audio device
- Attach the camera to the VM first
Drivers and hardware
Driver faults make devices invisible. Check device status in Device Manager, update or reinstall drivers, and try another port for external devices.
- Check device status in Device Manager
- Update or reinstall camera and audio drivers
- Try another USB port for external devices
- Check lens covers and mute switches

Check the lens is uncovered and no other app holds the camera; if it is a permission issue, restart the client after granting.
